Bhaag Milkha Bhaag Review

Pros
Truly Inspiring stuff, sugar coated to get todays' generation eyeballs. A good addition to the adrenaline loaded films' genre like Rang De Basanti, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara etc. Farhan Akhtar lives the title role. The physicalty apart, he truly gets the emotions perfectly. What's it that this guy cannot do, he sings, dances, acts, directs ...Art Malik is nice to see on ages, as Farhan's father. Pavan Malhotra is his competent self, but Sonam is getting typecast. Great music from Shankar Ehsan Loy, they have perfected this genre, like Lakshya etc. The title track would be used on running enthusiasts mp3 players/phones i guess, and if this can inspire runners on the track, it surely is a positive. The movie keeps the viewers engaged through light moments.

Cons
I didn't like the highlighting of the Rome Olympics medal loss and putting it in the beginning of the film, and ending with the Pakistan Run victory (this was hardly a run like the Olympics/ Asians/Commonwealths. This was pretty cliched. And is getting 4th position in the Olympica a mean achievement, even if he was the favourite to win there. the film could have shown his marriage in 1962, which would have rounded off the story after his lost first love. Also, i dont understand why romance is shown to be something athletes must avoid to concentrate on training! The partition images that haunt Milkha could have been handled better.

Lootera Review

Pros
Screenplay of the first half is brilliant. There are wonderful close shots of the actors, and the film in general follows  a languid pace, something that goes really well with the kind of the film Looera is. The period is beautifully captured through the locales, the bungalows where the film is shot, the costumes, jewellery etc. Most of the actors do a great job, Ranveer's getting typecast though, it was nice to see Barun Chanda perform, a wonderful Bengali actor. The music adds to the ethereal quality of the film.
Cons
The film mentions inspiration from "The Last Leaf" a famous short story by O Henry . But the connection is not much relevant and doesn't mesh with the story.  The second half drags. How can the Police Inspector not quickly realise that Ranveer is being sheltered by Sonakshi, this is just done to prolong the film.Divya Dutta is wasted.  There was this sexist dialogue by Ranveer to Dvya Dutta, something like using the pistol for grinding masalas which doesn't sound right. The songs Monta Re and Ankahee should have been performed by regular singers, not by Swanand Kirkire and Amitabh Bhattacharya (both good lyricists, but not singers). The lovemaking scene between Ranveer and Sonakshi doesn't work at all, obviously due to Sonakshi's inhibitions
